SAGEM is a major international player in mobile phones. Sagem, which has a strong position in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia (GSM 900/1800MHz) as well as in Latin America (GSM 850/1900 MHz), is fast developing a large palet of innovations based on the new communication technologies (built-in digital camera, color screens, video capabilities, Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS), WAP, GPRS, JAVA, radiocommunication modules and modems, etc.).

Having not many mobile phones on the market as yet, Sagem simply did not have time to create an elaborate and confusing naming pattern for their mobiles similar to the one recently perfected by Motorola. So understanding their phones is pretty simple so far - the C series stands presumably for clamshell design as they are all in fact clamshells and although it is not known what X exactly stands for all phones in the X series are in a "candybar" form factor. In each caterory they are sorted in an accending order starting from 1 (one being the first and the oldest). And who knows what my in their names stands for?

SAGEM also produces mobile phone modules so we are likely to see a lot of "cloned" Sagem mobile phones offered by smaller vendors and manufactures branded and marketed under their names and perhaps for different target groups in different world regions and different price bands.
