Panasonic A500 Review

Available from Q3 2004 the Panasonic A500 seems like a scaled-down version of the more advanced Panasonic X400. Unlike its more advanced relative it has no camera but in almost every other respect these mobile phones are very similar.

The Panasonic A500 is a Dual-band GSM 900 / GSM 1800 mobile phone in folder format supporting WAP 2.0, GPRS class 10 and also SMS, EMS, MMS mobile messaging and Java.

It features a very good TFT LCD display size 128 x 128 pixels, 65K (16 bit) colours.

Coming in clamshell form factor it supports interchangable front covers and features a push button opening mechanism with a button on the side of the phone releasing the lid allowing it to open. The phone measures 84.3 x 47.4 x 19 mm and with a standard 600 mAh Lithium-ion battery it provides talktime of up to 4.5 hours and works in standby mode for up to 210 hours.

On the Mobile Fun side the Panasonic A500 features 16-chord polyphonic ringtones as well as support for Java Games.

The Panasonic A500 can be an excellent budget solution if there is no need for a digital camera in a phone.
