Motorola V500 Review

Released in September 2003 the Motorola V500 is the second Quad-Band mobile phone produced by Motorola. Positioned above the Motorola V300 it features a better display and Bluetooth support. It is a close relative of the high-end Motorola V600 and the only two things missing in comparison to the Motorola V600 are video playback ability and changable panels. The Motorola V525 is the variety of the Motorola V500 for the Vodafone network, while the Motorola V500 itself is available exclusively on the Orange Network.
As all the clamshell phones in this line it is very compact measuring 87x47x23mm and weights just 95 grams. It is a Quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz phone with GPRS (4+2) compatible with every GSM network in the world, so it is great for travellers. In addition to USB PC connectivity it provides advanced Bluetooth support.
The internal display of the Motorola V500 is 176x220 pixels 65,000 colours, making it one of the largest screens in its class. Plus it has a small blue backlit 96x32 pixels subdisplay. It also includes an integrated VGA (640x480 pixel) digital camera.
Mobile Fun features of the Motorola V500 include support for Java games and applications, 24-chord polyphonic MIDI, WAV and MP3 ringtones. It comes with 5 pre-installed games (and more downloadabe), allows peer-to-peer games over GPRS and SMS and it also supports Instant Messaging, MMS, EMS and Nokia Smart Messages, speakerphone and has 2min of voice recording.
On the Orange network, the Motorola V500 is capable of up to five hours talktime and six days standby time.
The Motorola V500 provides an excellent value for money as it sits almost on top of its line, and is FREE on most contracts with quite generous cashback offers.
